Spring Break—Road Trip!
How Did You Handle That? No sooner does your teen get their driver's license, when you begin to hear murmurings of future road trips with friends, plans for a spring break trip, and such. You helped them learn to navigate through crowded parking lots and highway driving on I-84, of being mindful on one-way streets in downtown areas, and more. Now you're faced with them wanting to drive with just their friends for a vacation that you're not invited to! How do you handle that request:  age, distance and destination, rules of the road, communication, whose car, who drives, and more!

That issue just came up! Our 17-year-old son wanted to volunteer (with our car) to drive as many as five kids to a cabin a couple of hours away. Overnight. Because we have the vehicle that can hold the most cargo and the most passengers! He's a good driver, but we decided two passengers was plenty for him. No cell service, so communication isn't an issue...whether that's good or bad, I don't know. They definitely know how to get there, and one of the passengers is an EMT, I guess I won't worry (too much). Our son is responsible for the gas. I wonder if he'll ask for contributions from his passengers? Though one of them owns the cabin...
